Now Serving: Winter Face (and not the red chapped kind)

It’s winter, it’s cold and dry, and your skin is paying the price. Well, not for long. We’ve rounded up the best of the best for every skin type. Dig in…

DRY SKIN
So you have dry skin, that’s gotta suck a lot right now. Sorry love!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hr Cream – It ain’t no lie, everyone swears by it and I’m going to do the same. This stuff cures my eczema…and quick. Eczema could easily be the worst type of dry skin; it’s flakey, itchy, and all around awful. Arden’s 8 Hr Cream basically cures it within a day. I’ve used Egyptian Magicbefore but for some reason it just doesn’t do anything for me. Arden’s is the real deal. Lay it on thick and let it soak in on problem areas.Price Tag: $19.50
Lancôme La Base Primer- Okay, so this stuff says it’s going to help you control your oil. LOL. Sorry, Lancôme. But for real, it does what a primer is supposed to do and it’s gel-y, which is good for super smoothing out dry and flaky skin.Price Tag: $42

Yves Saint Laurent Teint Eclat Foundation- I’ll say one thing. This foundation oxidizes. Beware of this when picking one out. There are so many color  choices, you’ll be fine finding the right shade so you simply can’t get pissed, and trust me, I get pissed at foundations very easily. So… Get some samples in your range and see how it oxidizes on you on a bored day in (it must be day unless you have those sunlight mimicking light bulbs). Pair it with your primer to see the lasting power so you won’t be going back and forth all week trying to get the right shade. It’s gel based so it pairs well with the gel based Lancôme primer.Price Tag: $55

NORMAL SKIN
…you lucky bitch.

Rodin Olio Lusso Face Oil- Gosh, you have perfect pH balance so you might as well spoil yourself with this luxe moisturizing oil. It smells amazing, sinks right in, and may be pricey but you’ll barely have to use any of it. You can adjust the amount of moisture you want depending on season by how many drops you use, which is pretty great. You can even use it as a highlighter! Double whammy.Price Tag: $150

Smashbox Photo Finish Light- We all know Smashbox does a good primer, but the “Light” is oil free and comes in a pump bottle, which I find less gross (more hygienic in adult speak). You kinda have to let it dry first before you put on foundation, it’s pretty watery. It doesn’t take long to dry, take some time to text a friend you haven’t seen in a while, or get some sexting in! No Skyping since your face isn’t painted yet…Price Tag: $36

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation – So, I know what it’s like to go to a counter and they don’t have your shade. Lancôme has lots of shades so you’re covered. I’m very picky about brands without shade selection (H8 U CLINIQUE)! Clinique has a 24HR version that is pretty matte but what I’ve found is virtually no one wants to look matte if they want to look natural. Once a guy at Sephora asked me if I wanted it to look like I had makeup on… I nearly slapped him.Lancome makes the dewier version, but not tooooo dewy. We don’t want to look like an oil slick from the get go.Price Tag: $40

OILY SKIN
It’s the only time of year that our skin actually behaves!!!!!!

Lush Vanishing Cream- Lavender, rose, jojoba, witch hazel, honey… If you don’t like these things on your face you’re doing it wrong. It’s water based and made with essential oils so you’ve got a good thing going here. I love lush on my oily skin. It’s also cheap as all hell!Price Tag: $42.95

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer- Try to get your makeup off after you’ve used this. Just try it. Summer or winter, this stuff doesn’t budge. I tend to reach for it if I know I’m going to be partying for extended periods of time (think music festivals and holiday parties)! You’ll come home after 8 hours, look in the mirror and come to the drunken realization of “damn.. I still look good?!?!”… It’s a good feeling. Although, I have found if this hasn’t been shaken much it’s more of a liquid. If it has, then it’s more of a cream. This is going to be hard but try not to shake it. I find it works even better when it’s a liquid.. Though it still works either way. It’s weird but just go with it, okay?Price Tag: $52

Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder – I would wear this to the mall and damnthe compliments just poured in, even when I had a volcanic zit on my face. I’m like, “REALLY?? ME??”. I’m not the greatest example of flawless skin but boy, it never happens when I wear anything else. It also comes in a loose powder version…but I read that loose powders aren’t good for you because the particles tend to get picked up in the air and you inhale it into your lungs? It makes sense.. I wouldn’t take the risk of powdery lungs!Price Tag: $36

Cheers to a pretty and smooth 2013!

Leslie:
I always thought I just had oily skin but really I had severely dry skin and that was a major cause of my breakouts. I started using Burt's Bees Intense Hydration treatment mask with clary sage a few times a week while using home made facial masks and my skin hasn't broke out once in 4 months! This is coming from someone who couldn't go a month without breaking out!
Alexandria J. Tinnon:
I have always battled with some acne and I was blessed with my dads oily, but sensitive skin. NOT! My mother is actually the one with normal skin. (Yes she is a lucky lady, sorry I can't call my mother the b-word.) lol I have found that the less products I put on my skin the better. I use simple brand face wash and it is the best stuff I have ever used for my sensitive skin. It is loaded with vitamins and it doesn't have a bunch of harsh irritants in it that dry out your skin. I moisturize daily with clinique moisturizer. My skin actually does get dry in some places, even though I have oily skin. I swear by burts bees lip balm with the peppermint and vitamin E for drp lips. Best lip balm ever invented in my opinion!
nichol perez:
I love all Burt's Bees products for my face and chapped lips. Works wonders and I don't have to see my dermatologist the way I used to.
Liza:
When I get super dry skin in the winter vaseline is the only thing that will give relief. When it's not so bad I'm fine with Nivea or Carmex lotion.

I am a huge fan of smashbox photo finish primer! One of my favorites! I never heard of the Lush Vanishing cream but I am definitely going to check it out!
