Hotel Shangri-La Holiday Editorial!

If you keep up with us on Facebook or Twitter, you’d know that this past Sunday we shot our holiday editorial at the historical Hotel Shangri-La!

Shangri-La is a nexus of culture in the tradition of the Cliveden Set, Picasso’s Tertulias in the early 30′s during his final visits to Spain, the Bloomsbury Set and other cultural cliques and coteries throughout the ages that, although are not mainstream themselves, inform, influence, and impact wider society. The formula is quite simple, I enjoy playing host to interesting people whom I inspire, and who inspire me. I like to keep things natural and just bring people together who are like-minded, even though they may come from different backgrounds be it film, fashion, art, jewelry, design, literature, and so on.” – Hotel Shangri-La Owner Tamie Adaya

The incredibly chic, Hotel Shangri-La was the perfect backdrop for our holiday editorial. From the fancy rooftop lounge, to the contemporary penthouse, we had a blast making use of all that the Shangri-La had to offer! We want to say a HUGE thank you to the Shangri-La for letting us shoot there! Enjoy the behind the scene photos, and be on the lookout, as next month we’ll be partnering with Hotel Shangri-La again, but this time it’ll be for you all!

Suit Yourself!

We’re happy to welcome back our lovely guest blogger, Crystal. Today, she’s helping you bring out your masculine side!

Now that fall is in session, let’s bring out the masculine part of you that’s been hibernating all summer long. Inspired by Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fall 2011 collection, an androgynous suit can do wonders for your confidence. There’s something fierce, edgy, and even sexy about a woman wearing a suit. Just look at how these lovely bloggers, Megan of Another Day to Dress Up and Elaine of Clothed Much, incorporate the power suit into their own style. It’s something worth thinking about, ladies!

Dress For Your Body Shape: Hourglass

(From L to R) BCBGMAXAZRIA – $81, Theory – $79, La Rok – $59

As we mentioned last week, we’re going to have a short series with tips on how to dress for your particular body shape! Today’s focus is the hourglass shape.

An hourglass shape is defined as having an equal width bust and hip, with a narrow waist.

Tips to dress an hourglass shape:

  • Dress to accentuate and flatter your curves – “If ya got it, flaunt it!”
  • Shape your bust: get a professional fitting and make sure you’re wearing a supportive bra that fits
  • Stock up on v-neck tops and dresses as it flatters your bust and elongates the body
  • If you have curves you want to cover up, wear darker solid colors on them, and bright colors or prints to accentuate the curves you love

Do you have an hourglass shape? What are the fashion rules you live by?

Dress For Your Body Shape: Straight

(From L to R) La Rok – $83, A New York – $56, Aqua – $44

As you know, getting dressed is not only about the clothes that are on your body – it’s also about making sure what you’re wearing looks good on your body. That’s why it’s so very important to not only know what type of body shape you have, but also know what looks best on you. Over the next few weeks we’ll be giving you pointers on how to dress for 4 different body shapes: straight, hourglass, pear, and round. Today we’re focusing on the “straight” body type.

A straight body type is defined as having an upper and lower torso that is equal in width, and there is little difference between measurements of the bust, waist, and hips.

Tips to dress a straight body:

  • Create curves by wearing pieces that cinch at the waist, creating an hourglass shape
  • Wear ruffles and frilly pieces to add volume and femininity to your figure
  • Avoid baggy clothes or pieces that are too big because they can create a boyish look

Do you have a straight body type? What are some fashion rules you live by to work YOUR body shape?

A Casual and Fashionable Fall Look!

It’s no secret that most fashionistas absolutely love fall fashion. The layers, the warm colors, and the cold-weather accessories make us swoon. With the holidays coming up, we’re bound to be busy with shopping, and the usual date or girl’s night out – so it’s essential that we wear something that’s weather and life appropriate. We created this chic simple look based around our long-sleeved French Connection dress ($44). We suggest pairing this dress with cozy wool tights, and a pair of comfortable yet fashionable riding boots. Having a flat pair of boots is a fall/winter staple – they look great, keep your feet warm, and they’re super versatile. And what’s a complete look without a great bag?? Don’t think that because the weather is cool you have to be in jeans to keep warm! Pair skirts and dresses with tights and boots and you’ll be fashionable all season long.

What’s your fall/winter wardrobe staple??

Color Blocking Through Fall

As we said in our Fall Trend Report, color blocking is a trend that shows no signs of stopping through the cooler seasons. However, instead of neon color blocking, we’re opting for darker colors for our fall and winter wardrobes. Here are a few of our favorites!

(From L to R) 1. BCBGMAXAZRIA – $59 2. Aqua – $68 3. Bailey 44 – $59 4. Muse – $44

Do you like the color blocking trend? Which dress is your favorite?

The Brains Behind It All, Our CEO, Ferial!

Saving the best for last, today, we’re introducing you to the Founder and CEO of 365HANGERS – Ferial! Without her, none of this would be possible! Everyone say hello!

Which 3 words would you use to describe your personal style?

Casual, bohemian, and comfortable!

Who is your celebrity style icon and why?

Hmm, it’s hard to decide on just one because it changes so frequently. I like Sarah Jessica Parker for taking fashion risks and making it chic, and progressive wears by the Olsen twins. I also love Nicole Richie’s bohemian fashion flair because it’s so easy to wear in SoCal. Love her for that.

Fashionably speaking, what is your favorite season?

Fall – I love wearing colorful scarves. They can make any outfit so much fun! <3

What is your must-have accessory?

A positive attitude.

Tell us one totally random thing about you!

I have an amazing collection of colorful bangles from around the world!

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a little more about your 365HANGERS team! If you have any questions for Ferial, or anyone else, feel free to ask us in the comments section!

Who is your celebrity style icon and why?

Beyonce, her confidence and poise speak volumes.

Fashionably speaking, what is your favorite season?

Summer – since the clothes are more revealing, it definitely encourages people (me) to be more healthy!

What is your must-have accessory?

I would say makeup, but if that doesn’t count, a watch. It looks good and can help save time.

Say Hi to Your 365HANGERS Team Member, Nikki!

Today we’re introducing you to one of the newest members of the 365HANGERS team, our Operations Manager, Nikki!

Which 3 words would you use to describe your personal style?

Urban, ethnic, and artistic.

Who is your celebrity style icon and why?

Gwen Stefani. She just always seems to get it right. She has a really irreverent, yet well thought out style, and she’s clear on who she is. You can tell that she’s made up her mind that she definitely wants to look a certain way, but it isn’t pretentious, and she’s not trying too hard.

Fashionably speaking, what is your favorite season?

I know everyone always says fall and winter because of boots and all of the layering and that’s fine, but I really like summer. I’m an LA girl! I love shorts, sandals, little dresses, and fun tees.

What is your must-have accessory?

Earrings. The bigger and more ridiculous, the better. I can’t leave the house without them.

Tell us one totally random thing about you!

I’ve been to Guatemala.
