The Perfect Combination

I love this class I take at my gym. It’s called Zumba. I’m sure some of you have already taken a class or heard about it, but for those of you who have no idea of what it is, here’s a short breakdown. It’s an intense workout that combines dance moves with interval and resistance training. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. I love dancing, it makes me feel so good and, at the same time, I’m working out. What better combination? For all of you that dread working out, try doing something you enjoy, like walking, running, playing volleyball, hiking; there are so many things you can do. Don’t feel like you have to be stuck in a gym in order to get a good workout. I believe that when you’re enjoying your workout, you will workout harder and have faster and better results!

Big Wigs and Puffy Dresses

Today was a day for me; a full day where I was able to relax and feel stress-free! Whatever I was going to do, I wanted to take advantage of the fact that I am surrounded by culture and history, so I decided to be adventurous and explore. Well, not so much explore, but rather do some research on museums or attractions close to the area and go. My parents had plans together and left early in the morning, so I was kind of looking forward to me-time. I found out that my town is famous for old castles that had been passed on from generation to generation, some of which are still available for public viewing. Castles are something that I don’t see everyday in LA, other than the Magic Castle in Hollywood, so I decided to spend the day back in time.

Wearing Less Isn’t Always So Easy

Yesterday was an exercise in battling the heat. Keeping cool was my top priority. I woke up so HOT! And, by the time I made it to my closet, I’d come to the distinct conclusion that I wanted to wear as little as possible. Despite that decision, it suddenly became difficult to figure out what to wear even though I was going for less clothing.

Summer fashions can be tough to maneuver. Many of us have the idea of wearing little to nothing, especially when dealing with the dog says of summer, but always with the intention of effortless, pulled together style. And that’s the conundrum. How do you mix and match summer pieces without looking like you’re in your “lounge” wear?

Fashion Chemistry

My Catherine Maladrino gown was a hit with everyone, but most importantly Matt’s mother. He offered to pick me up, but I insisted on driving over and meeting him at his mother’s so I could introduce myself to her and see how she was doing. I picked up a dozen light pink roses, a box of chocolates, and made my way over. Matt was waiting on the front porch for me. He wore a fitted gray suit, black Gucci loafers, a white Ralph Lauren button-up, and a black silk skinny tie. To say he looked handsome would be the understatement of the century.

Improvisation Takes Confidence

I didn’t sleep much last night from being so excited and proud of myself for the job I did on the runway yesterday. Even still, I had an early day, with an early morning casting on the beach and right after I had to rush to the studio for a photo shoot with 365hangers.  I was up at 6:30 this morning to get ready for my first casting. You would think I’d have an easy time picking out an outfit since the casting was on the beach, but I ended up trying on three different swimsuits before choosing one and a back up.

I got to the general location for the shoot, but I couldn’t find the venue.

Picture Perfect

It’s my first day back in Los Angeles and it feels good being back. I have a couple of emails to write and some unpacking to do, but the day is open for a welcome back adventure. Even though I had some scheduled days off of work ahead, I knew this would be one of the few days I had to take advantage of LA. I’ve been in the city for less than a year and have been working so much I’ve hardly had time for any fun. Since I was in Miami for about a week, I was anxious to hang out with some of my friends in LA and experience something exciting and new. I tried to get all the important things I had to do done early in the day and by noon I was getting picked up by one of my friends.

Sweat The Small Stuff

One of the negative things about being back with my parents is that I can’t sleep in as late as I usually like to. My first day back from Berlin I planned to relax and chill-out, but instead, I was forced to get up bright and early to go volunteer as a teacher’s assistant at my mom’s German language school. I had completely forgotten that I accepted a small part-time job at her school during my stay here. I usually tend to plan out my outfits a day before, so it caught me off guard that I quickly had to pull something together that is presentable to a university professor. First impressions are so important, so my primary concern was professionalism. I wasn’t planning to show up in jeans, so I ruffled through my suitcase that was still packed and somehow managed to find my black slacks. I matched it with a stripped blue and white blouse from White + Warren that fits really nicely on my waist, and pulled on a vest on top of it. I let the collar of the blouse stick out of my vest and filled the bare part of my chest with a small diamond necklace. My hair was pulled back and I wore light, brown, eye makeup.

Essential for Your Body and Well-Being

The long weekend is over and now it’s back to work. I was ready for it though because I got a lot of work backed up that I need to take care of for Likida. Now I’m re-charged and ready for action. I feel very energized today. I did my spinning class in the morning and got my muscles and mind pumped up. I always get such an energy rush with spinning classes. I love it because it’s a class that always challenges my body, and I get a great sense of satisfaction when I finish the class. It feels so good to sweat; no, really it does! It’s like a release of any bad energy.

I’ll Always Be A Repeat Kind of Girl

I’ve always believed that “solofits” were a myth. You know, those girls who wear an outfit just once and archive it at the end of the day? I mean, who’s even that creative to not need at least one piece from a previous outfit to add to a new look? Even celebrities are spotted in repeats. I mean, who seriously has the time, the know-how and the bank account, let alone the memory? (I can’t remember what I wore yesterday!)

Something Old, Something New

Summer snuck up quickly and soon I’ll be moving into my new apartment. I’m really excited to have my own place with no roommates. I have so much to do, and I get nervous thinking about it all. Aside from all the planning and paperwork, packing is the ultimate obstacle and takes up the most of my time. Ten months ago I moved clear across the country, with two colossal suitcases full of clothes and only a hand full of contacts. Between now and then, I’ve managed to amass more stuff than I care to pack. I guess it’s never easy to notice how much stuff we acquire over time until it’s time to move and by then, you HAVE to go through everything. I’ve only been in California for less than a year, but by the amount of things I possess, you wouldn’t be able to tell.

Summer Monday's

Monday usually means: “BACK TO THE DAILY GRIND!” Luckily, it’s summer and, for me, that means the office I work for on campus is closed, for the most part, and I’m scot-free for a few months!

My DKNY dress was a hit with my girls last night and the hot waiter we had at the restaurant. He even recognized it was DKNY, which was incredibly impressive! A lover of fashion, to say the very least.

I made a great breakfast today. Two egg whites scrambled with chopped fresh cherry tomatoes with feta cheese sprinkled on top. Delicious!  After a good work out doing a mix of Pilates, weights and cardio, I went to get my hair done in preparation for my date tonight with Matt.

Model Confidence

Yesterday was a big day. I was so exhausted on the way back from Santa Barbara I actually had to pull over and sleep in my car for an hour. I could barely keep my eyes open. Traffic was so bad I couldn’t make it to Long Beach for my rehearsal; I hope I get the choreography in time for the runway show I’m doing today. By the way, I did my first runway show today after going to that workshop. I’m excited and nervous. I didn’t have to be there until 3 p.m., so last night I decided to sleep in to make sure my body got as much rest as possible. Hair and makeup people will be on-set, so I didn’t have to worry about either. My skin has been so dry lately that after my shower I decided to double up on lotion. I put contour oil over the lotion, and then I put on an old T-shirt and my Nike shorts so that my skin could absorb the mixture.

The Weekend Hump

After an amazing day yesterday, it’s back to work today.  Even though working on the weekend is always a little tough because everyone is out having fun and I’m here stuck working, I feel so fortunate to be doing something I love. Working on my business is so exciting for me, so it doesn’t really feel like work when I’m doing something I love.  Really, if you’re working on something you hate, do your very best to find something you enjoy doing; life is not that long, and you don’t want to spend all your life complaining about the job you hate, holding all of that negative energy inside of you. You’ll notice such a difference in your life when you’re working on something you believe in and that makes you happy!

Before a late meeting I went for a run on the beach. That’s the advantage of living so close to the beach; I see the ocean everyday and everyone is so laid back, it’s a totally different energy living in a beach town. Don’t get me wrong, I love the city, but it just feels so nice to go home and see the ocean. It makes me feel so calm and relaxed. How can you be mad when you see the ocean?

After a very relaxed morning, it’s back to work. Today, I have a fitness expo that I need to attend to show off our product. I’m meeting with some marketing people, so I need to dress nice and business- like. Again, your image is very important in the business world, especially in the beginning, if you want to be taken seriously. Being young and a woman, dressing in a nice business suit really makes a difference. Believe me, I’ve tried the opposite and people treated me like a teenager and didn’t really pay attention. It’s amazing how our society perceives people depending on their look. Oh well, I guess that’s life. Lucky for me, I love clothes and dressing up, so for me it’s so much fun picking different outfits everyday, alternating between business and casual.

Ok, I think for the expo, I going to go with something simple but classic. My Elie Tahari top and jeans will be perfect.  Dressing up is like math and art mixed together, it’s unpredictable but it always comes together at the end!!

Better Dressed Dogs

One word: shopping! Before I headed back to my little town, I decided to spend the morning and early afternoon away from sightseeing and stroll along the shopping district of Berlin. Not to mention the weather today was, surprisingly, really nice; something that must be taken advantage of in Germany at this time of the year.

Excited about the sun, I decided to be summery and wear a white and navy blue summer dress from American Apparel. What I love so much about the dress is the casualness of the design. It’s knee length and has a sort of layered design at the bottom of the dress. The color is simply amazing; white at the bottom and gradually turning into a shade of blue, and eventually a navy blue at the top. It has small sleeves and a collared neck top. This is the kind of outfit I can wear to a picnic and also to the beach, it’s a perfect match for everything! The best thing about it is that it goes great with both heels and flats, so it really depends on what you will be doing that day. As for me, because I knew that I would be doing some light walking, I decided to slip into a pair of navy blue heels from American Apparel.

Channeling Kelly Ripa

I woke up, way, too early this morning! I laid awake in bed, a good, three hours or more. When you have so much going on in your head, it’s nearly impossible to relax. Lately, I’ve had a lot of big changes.

I was supposed to be meeting with a few people to discuss the possibility of hosting a series of web videos. Basically, my job would be to talk about all the hot topics in news and entertainment every week. I was excited about the opportunity but very torn on what to wear. I’d been told they were looking to cast someone a bit older than me, so I wanted to make the right impression. Should I go for trendy, yet, professional? Try and channel my inner Kelly Ripa? Or, should I appear fun and sexy? Think, a young Jenny McCarthy.

Hmmmmmmmmmm…
