How to Layer Necklaces

Layering jewelry allows you to create unique statement looks, and while everyone has been mastering the art of stacking bracelets, I think necklaces have been a little ignored.

The first look is layering short, delicate chains. It’s easiest if you put the longest necklace on first and work to the shortest. It’s also helpful to have some spare chain extenders on hand if you need to vary the lengths more. Don’t be afraid to mix your metallics, and don’t get too fussy, just let them fall where they may.

Next is long necklaces. Because they’ll move and shift when you walk, choose bulkier necklaces, and don’t go overboard. You don’t want them twisting and tangling.

Finally, try pairing two statement necklaces together. The bold gets bolder. Just be mindful that many statement necklaces are pretty heavy and wearing them together can start to hurt you neck after a while.

I'm not a huge necklace person, when I wear them, I usually wear something small and very simple.

I like to do one short and one long, maybe even two different colors or styles!
