“ALLE TRE”

I settled for a classic little black dress. It had a sweetheart neckline, strapless, and fell just below mid-thigh. It is a classic look, and paired with my round-toed black pumps and a black belt with a gold flower for a buckle, the whole look came together.

We made our way to the club a little early so we could stop for a gelato on the way. I finally found Melone flavor! It’s essentially cantaloupe and it is, BY far, my favorite. Ever since I had it when I was 8 years old, in Boston’s Little Italy, I’ve ordered that flavor. The man serving my ice cream told me that I was “a beautiful girl of fashion.” Such generous words!

We sat near the beach and ate our gelato as we watched droves of young, handsome, well-dressed Italian men (and women) pass on their way to the club. We eventually made our way over there.

After fighting the giant crowd in the line, we entered the club. It was something out of a movie to say the least. There were at least 400 people there. It was all outside and consisted of a VIP area, a pool with a bridge over it, a huge area around the pool for dancing, a kind of tree house where the DJ was stationed, and the bar. We were closest to the bar so we slipped in and ordered mojitos. As I waited at the bar for the mojitos (I’m always the one ordering because I’m the only one who speaks any Italian), I saw the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. Seriously. I actually caught myself staring. He was so chiseled and well-dressed in his fitted white jeans and blue dress-shirt. Then I looked around and realized every single man around me was drop-dead gorgeous.

I need to live here.

We ran into the waiters from our welcome dinner. They were so sweet and kind and offered to buy us drinks and food. While we declined, they walked us to get gelato after the club closed at 2 and walked us all the way home as well. It was very sweet. They are good guys. We are all going to get together soon. They invited us for a night swim, some wine, and some desserts on the beach. Should be a good time.

Right now, I’m wearing my classic gladiator sandals and a plain pink tank dress. I have it cinched at the waist with a brown belt and my yellow scarf for added style. Some of the students and I are going to check out a small bar/restaurant in the town. We’ve heard they are very kind and accommodating so why, not? Plus, I’ve seen a really cute waiter there and having connections with a waiter is ALWAYS a good thing. Free food! Before we head over there, we’re taking a bottle of wine to the top of the hill to watch the sunset from the castle.

Yeah. The castle.

Pierina:
Come stai? Oh how I miss Italy....are you in Italy? I swear that all my wrinkles go away while I'm in Florence. I completely agree that Melone is the best gelato, but have you tried dulce latte? That's pretty fantastic too. There's a little gelato shop near the Mercato Centrale, across the street from some kind of horror/freak museum.
Gabriella:
Seriously! It's crazy how big of a city Florence is, yet how relaxing it seems. It is seemingly an oxymoron and that is why it is such a gem! I have tried dulce latter! I'm glad you agree with me about the melone...no one ever believes me! E'buonissimo! e tu? Come stai? do you go to Italy often?
Pierina:
Sono favolose! I've been twice since my initial visit in 2004. The first time I was there for 8 weeks and the second for 2.
