Easily The Most Fashionable
May I start with saying, the weather report lied! It’s freaking cold AND overcast! It’s summer! It’s not supposed to be like this! I’m glad I packed a pair of pants because it looks like I will be utilizing them to the max. As soon as we arrived to the dorm room, we realized there was no way we would be able to (OR WANTED TO) sleep there. James quickly got on his Blackberry and hit up the nearest Doubletree. We got a big room there for the four of us. Yes, even our friend Hallie from the dorms at UC Berkeley stayed with us in our hotel.
After we got settled, I changed into my black SEVEN jeans and into a pale yellow Nicole Miller top. I put on my converse so that my feet didn’t freeze off and I accented the whole outfit with this cool dark yellow scarf I got in Seattle a few years ago and my black leather jacket.
We went to some bar on one of the main streets in the city for dinner. The food was delicious and surprisingly gourmet. The fashions, however, were unimpressive. Sweater vests mix-matched with printed blouses in unflattering colors, oversized pants, sloppy hats, and shoes that resembled Dutch clogs clouded my vision. It was kind of depressing. I’m not going to generalize, but my first night on the town was pretty disappointing when it came to the overall fashion statements I observed.
Hopefully, today will be different. I’m wearing my converse and 7 jeans again because we went hiking this morning around the hill behind UC Berkeley and I would have frozen without them. It was unfortunately too overcast and we couldn’t see the Golden Gate Bridge from the viewpoint we hiked to. I did see some wild deer and turkeys though! So beautiful! One turkey scared the crap out of me. I screamed a little, it screamed back, we both jumped away from each other and then looked at each other.
Tonight, Hallie is taking us to a graduation party for some UC Berkeley grads. Hopefully there will be some better fashions there and, if not, I will show them what good fashion is with my hot, printed, DKNY mini-dress. Sure, I will freeze on the walk from the car to the party, but fashion is worth it! I’ll wear my sandals of course, because converse don’t really fit with my amazing dress. Well, actually, judging by what I’ve seen here so far…I could probably wear my converse sneakers with this silk printed dress and still be the most fashionable. I thought the bad fashion would stop after those gas stations we stopped at!
