Give Your Look Personality
I got an email from my friend in Mexico this morning. His name is Roberto and we met in Italia last summer. I went to go meet some friends in a piazza before a night of clubbing and he was a friend of theirs that had just arrived in Florence. I can remember walking through the dimly lit streets of Firenze in my black cocktail dress. It was cotton and had beading in a V down the front of it. It was beautiful and it made me feel beautiful.
Now, Italians are generally pretty forward when they think you look good, but this particular evening a man actually ran after me. It was kind of ridiculous, but hey—that’s what good fashion can do.
I remember walking towards my group of friends and seeing Roberto’s unfamiliar handsome face. He is SO handsome. I remember he wore black fitted jeans and a blue plaid shirt rolled up to his elbows. It made his bright blue eyes pop. Initially, I thought he looked like a mixture of James Marsden and Zac Efron, but I recently watched a film called Dot the I and Roberto totally looks like James D’Arcy (but better looking in my opinion).
His email said that he would be touring Europe this summer. Since I will be in Italy, he is hoping we can meet up, whether it’s in Italy or Paris or another city.
I just have to tell you that Roberto is probably the most gentlemanly and thoughtful man I have ever met. It’s probably because the Mexican culture produces so many men of this nature. He walked me home from the clubs every night, even though it was two miles out of his way. If we met up—even for a slice of pizza—he would pay for everything. He would give me his jacket if he thought I was cold. I joked with him that I would marry him. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s so hard to find a true gentleman nowadays!
I got a text from Matt today. Apparently there’s some big party his grandparents are throwing for their 50th anniversary tomorrow and he wants me to be his date. Meet his whole family? Ah, jeeze.
But of course I’m going. I like Matt and I liked getting dressed up.
Right now, I’m about to get picked up in a limo with some friends. We’re celebrating Helena’s birthday and we’re hitting up some clubs along Sunset Boulevard. Should be a good night. I’m wearing an Alice+Olivia cocktail dress that has a bold print. It gives my look personality without drowning it with accessories. Because it’s strapless, I’m wearing my hair up in a loose bun. It makes things easier when you’re dancing all night in the club anyways!!
