Show A Little, But Don’t Show It All
The club was fun last night! I have to admit…I hate most club fashion. Cheap fabrics, extra low-cut tops, too many people in shiny clothes, short skirts…it’s just a meat market. Yet, I keep going! Hey, I like to dance and I like to dress up in what I deem appropriate club attire. Ruffles, silk, lace, class; that’s club attire to me. Show a little, but don’t show it all.
The basic rule is if you show a lot of skin up top, balance it with pants.
OR
If you wear a short skirt then balance it with a higher neckline…say a ruffle-necked tank. (I don’t count arm skin)
I just got back from a nice lunch with my mom. She was telling me about all her fashion endeavors. She went to a big wedding this last weekend and apparently there was a dress code of black and white attire with a theme from the 20s, 30s, and 40s jazz scenes. I think it’s a cool idea, but she described countless men that showed up in all-white suits and black “canes.”
Apparently the bride was a total Bridezilla! I understand it’s your “big day,” but, I assure you, it’ll be better if you don’t worry about that one rose that is off-kilter in your bouquet. Now if your dress is ugly….that’s another story and being a Bridezilla is allowed. Though personally, I don’t think anything would make me unhappy or angry the day I marry the one I’m truly in love with…if I ever meet him that is.
Tonight my friend and co-worker Stacey is have an engagement party. It’s being held on the beach. I think that’s so cool! It’s still formal attire, but bare feet are mandatory. Saves me time trying to pick out shoes! I’m going with a Tahari dress in a light pink.
This dress:
a) makes me look tan, without the skin cancer
b) it’s length makes me look taller
c) and it’ll look absolutely beautiful when the beach breeze picks up the chiffon layers
The unfortunate thing about the beach is that the moisture makes my hair feel, and look, pretty bad. People with curly hair want straight hair and vice versa. I love my hair! It’s closer to being curly than straight, but it’s wavy more than anything. I’ve grown to really love it and my straightener would have to be dusted off if I wanted to use it.
Tonight I’m going to go with a loose bun updo with wispy hairs shaping my face. It really captures the laid back aspect of the party (eh um…bare feet), but it also compliments the dress really well and shows off my shoulders. They’re going to serve champagne and chocolate strawberries….I would be lying if that wasn’t the thing I’m looking forward to the most.
I just heard the doorbell! I’m sure Matt is going to look amazing and his style will only further compliment this dress!
