There Really Aren’t Excuses Anymore
I’m writing from the car again. We’re on our way back from Nor Cal. The party was interesting. Unique fashions, but better than what I had seen on the street. Some Badgley Mischka, Theory, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Roberto Rodriguez, and Free People, just to name a few of the designs I saw.
So to give you an idea of what the street fashion looked like, imagine the quirkiness of Free People and maximize that to the extreme. Free People works because it’s quirky, but balanced. Most of the Berkeley fashions were “extreme” quirky and not attractive.
The other interesting fashions were at the gas stations along Interstate 5. My guy friends love stopping and grabbing candy or stretching their legs every other hour, so I can say with confidence that I covered a lot of gas stations.
I feel like there is so much help out there with the magazines, podcasts, celebrity photos, fashion blogs, websites, TV shows, etc. Why are so many people still failing miserably at fashion? There really aren’t excuses anymore! For example, we stopped to grab a snack in Bakersfield and the guy ahead of us in line had:
a) a mullet
AND
b) overalls with one strap hanging behind him unhooked
Need I say more? I understand that he was probably a farmer, but was it really necessary to go out in public like that? The worst part: he then entered a nice restaurant to eat for lunch. Wearing that!
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought it was so disturbing. There is nothing more disheartening than a person that does not understand fashion and it’s importance. Fashion is an art form. Every morning we wake up with a blank canvas and we put on clothes and accessories to express our mood.
The trip back home was going by fast, which was perfect because I had to get ready to go out tonight. I got a text from Matt last night. He invited me to go to his friend’s graduation party this evening. It’s being held in this grand ballroom at the Hilton downtown so I’ve got to dress up. It’s a summer event and I feel like a clean and simple Ralph Lauren dress will be perfect. I’ve got one in a pale yellow that really makes my hair and skin look radiant. I feel like a goddess in it. It’s another long dress and considering there may be dancing; I’m going to wear my brown gladiator sandals. They will be covered by the material, but, should they show, they’ll look amazing! No jewelry tonight and natural make up—summer style!
I haven’t seen Matt since last week at the party I took him to on Thursday. We had a really good time so I’m excited for tonight. Every date has been insanely romantic and fun. Of course, I have to meet perfect boyfriend material right before I leave the country for a month. I have to bypass getting into a relationship before I leave. I’m young, I’m fashionable, and Italy is an oasis of attractive men.
