Too Many People Under-dress
I started my day by watching Under the Tuscan Sun. It’s my secret love. Oh my gosh, and that scene where Diane Lane goes to Positano to find the man she met in Rome, and she walks onto that pier in that long white dress with the black belt? Ah! Che bella! Plus, that Italian man in the movie was totally gorgeous. That probably helped me love the movie a little. He kind of looks like a friend of mine in Italy. Brown hair, tall, great jaw line, and bright blue eyes!
I thought a lot of the fashions fell flat in that film—nothing too great—but the scene where she wears the white dress and goes to Positano is utterly romantic.
So that kind of set my mood for the day. I’m feeling romantic today, which means my outfit, whether I realize it or not, will probably resemble some element of the film. I commonly (and subconsciously) mold my outfits after films and/or the feeling the films create in the audience.
I’m meeting Matt for his hour lunch break. I want to leave him thinking of me all day, so I’ve got to find something that makes me both look and feel wonderfully romantic and beautiful! I’m thinking of wearing my checkered dress by Marc Jacobs and I’ll wear my hair in big loose waves. Not only are loose waves romantic and gorgeous, but waves are the summer hair trend, too. I’m going to stick to somewhat natural make-up, but some 1940s style black eyeliner and some light pink lipstick will really tie this whole look together. I feel like I’m in a Romantic movie. I can’t wait to meet Matt at that restaurant. I’m going to make quite the entrance!
Sometimes I wish fashion was worn more like in the movies. I wish the world was summoned to wear only silk ball gowns one day or 1920s flapper looks. It would make things so much more fun. Last summer in Italy, I bought this silk, floor length dress with Grecian styled sleeves. It was a light pink floral print and while it sounds kind of old lady, it was one of the sexiest and most beautiful dresses I had ever seen. That’s why I bought it. Mind you, I haven’t really had a place to wear it, yet, but maybe I’ll have a themed party so I have an excuse to wear it. I love themed parties because, not only do I have an excuse to dress up, but it forces everyone else to do so as well! There are too many people that under dress for parties. Experiment with fashion! There’s a world of fabrics and prints to explore!!
