Better Dressed Dogs
One word: shopping! Before I headed back to my little town, I decided to spend the morning and early afternoon away from sightseeing and stroll along the shopping district of Berlin. Not to mention the weather today was, surprisingly, really nice; something that must be taken advantage of in Germany at this time of the year.
Excited about the sun, I decided to be summery and wear a white and navy blue summer dress from American Apparel. What I love so much about the dress is the casualness of the design. It’s knee length and has a sort of layered design at the bottom of the dress. The color is simply amazing; white at the bottom and gradually turning into a shade of blue, and eventually a navy blue at the top. It has small sleeves and a collared neck top. This is the kind of outfit I can wear to a picnic and also to the beach, it’s a perfect match for everything! The best thing about it is that it goes great with both heels and flats, so it really depends on what you will be doing that day. As for me, because I knew that I would be doing some light walking, I decided to slip into a pair of navy blue heels from American Apparel.
While strolling around on the shopping district in the capital of Germany, I saw some interesting fashion from both men and women. There were many different types of people on the street; Goths, Harajuku Girls, wealthy looking women with their designer bags, teenagers wearing some terrible combinations, and even couples who seem to have coordinated their outfits in color … Even the dogs that some people were walking had clothing on, and not just any clothing, designer clothing! I saw a poodle wearing a brown doggy shirt that had the Juicy Couture logo on it! Let’s just say that the girl who was walking the dog definitely wasn’t wearing clothing half as recognizable as her dog was… *oops*!
I didn’t feel out of place in my outfit at all, I think I blended in comfortably with the crowd. The one accessory I would have liked to have was a big, white summer hat. I’m not much of a hat person, but I think this dress would have looked really nice with a straw hat. I didn’t get as much shopping done as I had hoped for as I spent a little too much time observing the fashion of Berlin. I wanted to spend a peaceful day, and my initial excitement for shopping quickly faded into something a little more relaxing.
It was a wonderful week in Berlin, full of culture and surrounded by history. As much as I like living in Los Angeles, I had forgotten how much Germany has to offer and realized that I truly missed Europe. While I’m not exactly sure where my “home” is, it reminded me of a time when I spent 10 years of my childhood living in Europe. It was reminiscing, and I’m so glad that I decided to fly “home” after so long.
Love always,
Mia
