While the first portion of my day consisted of more apartment hunting and then being grumpy about not finding one that I am somewhat happy with, the evening looked more promising. I was invited to a friend’s birthday celebration over in Santa Monica. I really like going out in the west side, being right by the beach and hanging out with friends at various bars.

On top of my excitement about the location, I was really excited to see my friends after two months apart. I put on my party shoes and dressed to impress. I wore a black, backless, V-shaped dress, that had sparkles along the cut. I finished the look with some open-toe strappy black heels and silver earrings. My hair had light curls, and I was going for my sexy look tonight. And boy did I feel sexy in it!

We started the evening having dinner at a great sushi restaurant and catching up on how life has been treating us since we last saw each other. Eating good food and being with my friends is exactly what I had hoped for after a long and stressful day. Sushi is one of my favorite meals. It’s so exquisite and healthy, a combination that doesn’t exist in many cuisines. Don’t get me wrong, I do crave a piece of steak every now and then *wink*. Unfortunately, one person in our group was allergic to fish; teriyaki chicken to the rescue! What was she doing at a sushi restaurant? Good question…

We spent the rest of the evening, bar hopping around the area and meeting up with more friends. I felt so comfortable socializing in my black dress, and was happy that many of them liked it as much as I did. My friends also had some amazing outfits on that definitely caught my attention. One of them wore a beautiful brown, knee-length dress and she enhanced her waist with a belt. She added waves to her hair and finished her look with some gold hoops. It was an amazing look for her, and her dark brown hair went perfect with the dress. Now that I think back, all of us wore a variety of colors that we all definitely felt comfortable in.

Once again, I realized just how much I missed them while I was away. Distance doesn’t seem to have any affect on our friendships.
