The Hunt is On
Even though I went back to Europe for a whole month, I felt like I was never truly “home.” I’ve always considered Germany as a country I return to, to see my parents and relax, but this time around, flying back to LA was like “going home.” I really like living in Los Angeles, and being away from the city for so long made me miss it. As much as I complain about the traffic, I think over time I started to miss the hectic life style and trying to get to a certain area on time. Traffic is part of LA, it’s a package deal, and being away from it now makes me appreciate the city even more.
Now that I’m back, I have been trying to get back into my regular routine. However, before I get too cozy, I know that this summer is going to be a busy one for me. I have a great internship lined up for the next two months that will allow me to peak into the world of branded entertainment, an area that I really want to learn more about, as well as my goal of moving to a new apartment! I decided not to waste any time and immediately put on my comfortable jeans from DKNY and one of my favorite T-shirts from Velvet. It’s a dark blue short-sleeve shirt with bizarre nature designs on it. Really comfortable too! Because my goal is to apartment hunt, I knew I had to be in sneakers! I settled on a pair of blue and white Puma shoes that allows me to wiggle my toes! A big necessary for how I planned to spend the day!
So, I learned that apartment hunting is not an easy task. I’ve never really had to find an apartment on my own before. I always had a friend who was going through the same process with me. Even though it is a challenge, I enjoyed looking at the different layouts of rooms and home décor at various apartments. The thing is, I’m a people person and I would really like to live with another person. I enjoy the company of people and would feel lonely if I was on my own. So, not only was I looking for the perfect apartment, but I was also looking for the “one” – roommate that is.
I must have looked at about 5 different apartments today. My GPS was a huge help, but sometimes it gets confused and tells me to take strange turns, which inevitably got me lost and I couldn’t find the exact location. To make matters even worse, I couldn’t even find parking in front of many of the apartments, so I spent a good amount of time going up and down the hilly Los Angeles streets. Boy, can I tell you just how happy I was in my comfy jeans and sneakers!
Many of the places were simply O.K. The room would be nice but the living room would be too small, or I wouldn’t have my own bathroom. The layout of the apartment would be strange or I would have trouble getting along with the person already living there. Sigh, a big challenge indeed.
Oh perfect apartment and room mate, I hope I find you soon!
Love always,
Mia
